Christmas is quickly approaching and for the past few weeks, Beth has been busy, getting everything ready for the holidays and her girls, who are coming home from college. In addition, this year they are bringing their father for the holiday. It has been three years since she has seen Kent, and she cannot help wondering why he wants to attend the family holiday this year. Suddenly, with Kent on her mind, she finds she misses him and loves him more than she had realized. It had been she who had pushed for the divorce. He had just gone along with what she wanted. Beth knows she made a mistake by pushing for the divorce instead of working on her marriage, but she fears she has lost him for good now.
Beth and Kent’s daughters, Bailey and Sophie, know that their parents belong together and that the divorce was a mistake. They intend to rectify that problem this holiday. But all of their plans seem to go up in smoke when Kent arrives with Danielle, a much younger, beautiful woman on his arm. Although he claims she is just a friend, Danielle lets Beth know that it is more than that. Beth finds that she is losing her enthusiasm for this particular holiday. The battle lines are soon drawn with Sophie and Bailey on one side and Danielle on the other, but Beth does not see how she can compete with this younger woman, despite the warm glances that Kent is tossing her way. To top off everything else, someone has dropped a basket of ten adorable puppies on Beth’s doorstep, and she must find new homes for them before she and her girls leave on their ski trip the day after Christmas. Plus the local vet, who is interested in Beth, arrives to share dinner with the family. With one glitch after another in their plans, will Sophie and Bailey be able to reconcile their parents, or is the relationship doomed?
A wonderful holiday read, 1225 CHRISTMAS LANE, the twelfth and final installment in award winning author Deborah Macomber’s CEDAR COVE series, is a witty and emotion-packed contemporary romance. Although it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. However, readers of this series will be brought up to date on the characters from the previous books in this series. Ms. Macomber definitely awakens the holiday spirit with this delightful story, with the baking, shopping, gift wrapping, family and friend gatherings and delicious food. Although I enjoyed this story immensely, I hate to see this series end, and I am sure there are many readers who will agree with this sentiment. Despite this, I believe that this Christmas novel is an ideal way to end the series. Do not miss this delightful book or any of the other stories in this amazing series!
