Sounds easy enough, right? Cecelia will finally have the chance to win the heart of the man she’s loved for years while Ainsley gets the opportunity to escape for a while. Ainsley’s not interested in finding love with Riley, the bachelor in question and she fully intends to keep to herself, but can’t resist the pull of the ranch greenhouse – and soon Riley’s falling into the same ‘captivating’ category despite her best efforts to remain detached.
Riley Pommer isn’t at all happy about having a bunch of bachelorette’s vying for his attention in a homegrown version of the popular reality show. It’s a ploy his sisters cooked up in an effort to save the ranch and he doesn’t have the heart to say ‘no.’ Most of the women there are exactly what he would have expected – playing the damsel in distress, overbearingly attentive, or just plain ‘stripper in a former life.’ The only one who really interests him is Ainsley with her no nonsense attitude and easygoing personality. Of course, the simple fact that she’s not afraid to go toe-to-toe with him could be part of her charm.
WHO WANTS TO MARRY A COWBOY? by Abigail Sharpe is a refreshing romance. Throw away any preconceived notions you might have had about cowboys because Riley is definitely a one of a kind. Ainsley might come from a wealthy family but there’s nothing pretentious about her. I love her independent attitude – especially in the face of some of the other bachelorettes who are more than a little catty. I found Ms. Sharpe’s writing to be utterly charming and fun with some emotionally charged scenes thrown in for good measure – including one where we finally learn what PB means. One of the other bachelorette’s kept referring to Ainsley as ‘PB’ and I wondered what that stood for through much of the story and was stunned when it’s finally revealed – I actually felt my face heat in anger over the slur.
WHO WANTS TO MARRY A COWBOY appears to be Abigail Sharpe’s debut novel and it certainly put her on my authors to watch list. Her next novel,
WHO WANTS TO MARRY A DOCTOR?, is scheduled to be released in December 2013.
