Van Meter's A CAUSE FOR JUSTICE has lots of caring townspeople and family friends always looking out for her. Justice is one step away from poverty due to her causes and her role as president of an environmental group. She gets in quite a few situations and every time she does, Mason - the developer of the land she's trying to save - is always there to lend a hand. They fight their attraction, succumb, then fight it some more. Neither one lets the other know what they are feeling so it's always one step forward and two steps back. There is sex and love, not too much romance, secrets from the past that get uncovered, sadness, pain, sorrow, tears, happiness, laughter and a happily ever after. The characters didn't draw me in and I didn't always feel connected to the story. The epilogue gave some closure but there were loose ends that still needed to be tied up for better closure.
Van Meter is a new to me author and I will give some of her other books a try. I enjoyed the note from the author to the readers in the front of the book.
