Jack Sawyer is still mourning the wife he lost to illness and his son who left shortly thereafter. In fact, he has not heard from his son David since he left. When a young woman Julie and her young daughter Katie arrive at his door, their vehicle broken down and their cell phone not working, he cannot turn them away. Little does he know the affect they are about to have on his life. In the course of helping them, he is injured and Julie takes it upon herself to stay and nurse him back to health. As they spend time together, Jack and Julie are increasingly attracted to each other. Even little Katie adores him once she gets beyond being afraid of him.
