Sam grew up on a ranch in Colorado. Now that the ranch is experiencing financial problems, he and his brother Zach have taken on seasonal work, with Sam in New York and Zach in Oregon. Working for his friend Greg, Sam is setting up Christmas trees in New York, including a blue spruce from his family’s ranch. Sam knew he could never live in New York, but the brief visit was fascinating, almost like a totally new world. While on lunch break one day, he decides to buy his sister a Christmas gift from a New York boutique called Now. Approaching the store he sees that construction is going on and one rather clumsy boy takes a spill off a ladder. So Sam offers his help. After all, this is one way to get closer to the gorgeous boss.

Nicole designs display windows and is presently working on a double window display at the Now boutique. With the latest mishap, she is short on people, so when Colorado cowboy Sam offers his help, she can’t turn him down. Nicole has been working hard to build her business and doesn’t have time for a social life. But Sam stirs feelings in her that no one else ever has. With his being her employee and just visiting, she fights her attraction to him, insisting they are just friends. But spending time with him makes her realize how much more she wants with him. Just as she begins to admit her attraction, an emergency calls him home. Will he remain in Colorado, or will her wish for a cowboy under her Christmas tree be granted?

An interesting read, A COWBOY UNDER MY CHRISTMAS, the latest book by talented author Janet Dailey, is a touching contemporary romance. It is Sam’s persistence that furthers the romance with Nicole, who remains wary through most of the story. Stealing the story is the plight of a young boy named Douglas and his family, who is sure to touch the hearts of readers. With New York, skating, snow, Rockefeller Center, hot chocolate, family, romance and the magic of Christmas, this story is a nice holiday tale that will leave you feeling good. A delightful tale for Christmas and all year long!
