Daughter of 'San Francisco's Jeweler', rich and beautiful Morgan Malliard thought she had found the man of her dreams, only to have him turn out to be a con artist and bigamist.  Having lost her mother at a young age, Morgan has always been doted on by her wealthy father and basically has no life outside him and his jewelry business.

Now at twenty-nine, Morgan decides to make a break from the pampered world she lives in to try and make a life on her own, with the help of her best friends, Poppy and Lilly.  Morgan is later shocked to find she is being indicted along with her father for tax evasion, but never having been privy to the business end of the jewelry trade, she is completely at a loss as to how to defend herself and claims ignorance of the situation.

When her father hires George Gentry as their lawyer, Morgan is attracted to him right from the start.  She had met him before, but had thought he was a reporter, and isn't so sure he is going to be able to help her with her legal troubles.  More than likely he will just add to her love life troubles, what with her track record with men.  Will Morgan spend the rest of her life in jail, or in the arms of the handsome lawyer who believes in her innocence?

Kristin Billerbeck brings readers the second book in her SPA GIRLS COLLECTION, A GIRL'S BEST FRIEND.  Chick lit just wouldn't be the same without Ms. Billerbeck's contributions to the genre.  We met Lilly in book one, SHE'S ALL THAT, and now Morgan has her own book, and soon the third spa girl, Poppy, will wrap up the series.  Faith, friendship, and fun abound in all of Ms. Billerbeck's novels, and this one is no exception.  Readers will come to understand that while diamonds may be beautiful, there are much better things in life that can be A GIRL'S BEST FRIEND.
