When feisty Kate Sullivan sees two men trying to steal her car, she manages to thwart their attempt, but put her life in jeopardy. The two men work for the mob and had just completed a hit nearby. A hit where things didn’t go as planned, leaving an eyewitness behind — Kate. The police have a plan, 24 hour police protection while using Kate as a decoy. Detective Michael O’Connor is assigned to protect her and the two of them form a limited partnership until the thugs are arrested. From their first meeting, when Michael mistakes her for a hooker and Kate takes him for a pimp, things are off to a bumpy start. Forced to share each others company, Kate and Michael are at odds, bickering constantly. They can only agree on two things, eliminating the threat to Kate’s life and . . . not falling in love.

Plenty of action, nicely rounded characters, and explosive chemistry between Kate and Michael make A LIMITED PARTNERSHIP well worth reading. Elizabeth Stewart has created a hero and heroine who argue more often then they kiss. These two characters fight tooth and nail to keep from falling in love. Ms Stewart manages to balance their spatting and sparking, allowing readers to sit back and enjoy the show.

Kate is a very sympathetic character with a tender heart underneath her tough reporter exterior. Michael is the classic stubborn, tough cop. He keeps his emotions in check, never allowing himself to become truly involved. As the wall surrounding his heart begins to crumble, his character begins to shine. Secondary characters, ranging from friends to foes, keep this story moving at a quick pace.

A LIMITED PARTNERSHIP is an appealing read. Elizabeth Stewart keeps the suspense going as she develops Michael and Kate’s relationship. The characters are expertly drawn and Ms Stewart has a few twists in store for the reader making for a charming book.
