Devlin's A LONG, HOT SUMMER had an actual storyline even though it was only one hundred pages long. There were steamy love scenes, some so totally unexpected, that where ever they were was set on fire - not always with a bed in sight. There was family - Tommy's two brothers, their wives and little girls, along with friends, two ranches to run, sexy romance and some interesting loving. Tommy knew that he wasn't whole without Sarah in his life for a multitude of reasons but Sarah wanted no part of it with her past weighing her down. Tommy had a devilish side to him but I could see the love radiating from him and how he always put her first. Watching their give and take was heartwarming at times and others oh so steamy. There was wonderful closure due to the epilogue.
Devlin is a new to me author who writes a variety of genres but all have erotica at its core which tends to be out of my comfort zone. I may give her other western books a read but especially books one and two in this series, LAYING DOWN THE LAW and IN TOO DEEP, Colt and Gabe's stories, since I'd like to get the background info on the brothers since I started with book three in the series.
