Diana Smith is trying to make a fresh start in Bentonsville. Her hometown holds many painful memories, including the death of her beloved brother, but Diana knows it is important to come home. After all, she has nine-year-old Jaye to consider. Her daughter, the most important person in her life, and the girl who has grown up without a father. Diana is trying to right that wrong. She is trying to find the courage to tell Tyler Benton that he has a little girl.

When Tyler sees Diana working at the local community center, her betrayal comes rushing back. Tyler loved the teenage Diana with every beat of his heart, but when she confessed that he was not the only boy in her heart, or in her bed, the betrayal was devastating. Seeing her again brings it all back to him. He does not understand that Diana left so that he would not be burdened with a pregnant girlfriend. Diana left for his own good, or so she believes. But to Tyler, her leaving left a hole in him that he has never been able to repair. With her reappearance in his life, and her goal of telling him about Jaye, he cannot seem to escape the feelings she is reawakening in him. Can Diana and Tyler find a way to reconcile the past to share a brighter and more positive future?

A TIME TO COME HOME is the sequel to Darlene Gardner’s A TIME TO FORGIVE. Readers finally get to learn more about the elusive and troubled Diana. Diana has many issues to work through in this story including her relationship with Jaye, her lies to Tyler, and the drug habit she has finally kicked. Diana is a very strong and resourceful woman who uses her new job and the new friendships she is reforming in Bentonsville to help her adjust to Tyler again. The new relationship between Tyler and Diana is fraught with tension, both sexual and emotional. These two definitely have a ways to go before they reach their happily-ever-after, but they are both giving it their all. The tender and tough relationship between Jaye and Diana is another winning element to this book. Darlene Gardner gives this tenuous connection its proper due as Diana figures out how to be the mother she wants to be again.

A TIME TO COME HOME is an expressive love story of the power and courage it takes to come home and start anew. It is tender-hearted emotion at its best.
