Shane wakes up from his birthday bash hung over and miserable. He can’t believe he let his parents’ forgetfulness get to him yet again. Good thing he has Lindy to find out what happened at his own party. By the looks of his trashed house, he must have had a great time. The last thing he needs to go with his pounding head is Grandpa Joe telling him to straighten up and fly right. Grandpa Joe even threatened to steal Lindy away. Lindy is the only person he can rely on no matter what. She wouldn’t leave him, would she?
When Lindy tells Shane she is his assistant and not his babysitter, he’s more than a little bit hurt. When she refuses to get him concert tickets for his dates or make reservations for him, he’s puzzled, but when she tells him she’s leaving to go work for his Grandpa, well that’s going too far! Shane argues for a one-month reprieve to prove to Lindy that staying with him is the right thing to do. Only, will one month be long enough?
ABOUT LAST NIGHT is a fabulous book that continues with the exploits of the Jacobsen family. Wily Grandpa Joe is determined to see his grandchildren settled, and does some crafty maneuvering to get his way. Lindy and Shane are a beautiful couple who are struggling with both emotional baggage from their past, and some huge issues in their present. I found myself flipping pages as fast as my eyes could read to find out how Shane would overcome the next hurdle Lindy threw in his way. I loved seeing some of the characters from Ms. Dunaway’s previous books in the series make cameo appearances as well. This was a terrific read that made me eager for the next trick up Grandpa Joe’s sleeve. After all, he still has three more grandchildren.
