Chris London owns a thriving matchmaking service called Lunch Meetings. His concept of casual lunch engagements and small evening mixers is designed to take some the pressure off of meeting and dating new people. It's been quite a success! He's ready to expand the business and open new locations. He just needs financial backing. PJ wants her firm to consider investing in Lunch Meetings and convinces Rei to give the service a try. She hopes Rei's experience will provide some good data to take back to the board of directors. Although he doesn't know her real name, Chris immediately recognizes Rei from the nightclub. He isn't thrilled that she's planning to use a dating service but his mood improves when her profile shows nearly a perfect match with his own.
Rei hasn't had much luck in the relationship department. Neither has Chris. Neither one is looking for anything serious, but why not have a little fun? Maybe hard-working Rei can check off a few more items on her Life List and enjoy herself a little. And maybe Chris can finally stop worrying that his clients will find out he doesn't really have a girlfriend and think he's a big fraud. If they both agree to stick with a sex-only, no-strings-attached affair then there's no threat, right? Or maybe they can even be friends who just happen to sleep together. But what happens if one of them wants something more?
I absolutely loved this story. I worried through Rei's health scare and got angry when the cliché about no good deed going unpunished proved all too true for Chris. And you know what? I think everyone needs a friend like PJ. She is Rei's staunchest supporter and knows just when she needs sympathy, a little push or some friendly advice. Chris and Rei both learned something about forgiveness, trust, and second chances. Mia Zachary not only wrote a hot story with an appealing plot and all-too-human characters, she also included serious undertones that will give readers plenty to think about long after the last page has been read. I highly recommend this book!
