Felicia's mother Jilly wants Felicia to live closer to her childhood home on Nantucket and believes Felicia should marry a more civilized man. Archie is an outdoorsman who gives rafting tours and guided hikes during the season in Utah. He has never been to Nantucket but agrees to spend two weeks there before the wedding. Felicia would just as soon have an outdoor wedding with a few friends but grudgingly is going for the big Christmas wedding in Nantucket to please her mother and sister.
This story is filled with humor as Archie introduces his future father-in-law to his joy with the outdoors and Jill is trying to move her daughter back to seeing their next door neighbor as a possible husband. Then you throw in two young children, who they can't always control, and a new addition to the family in the form of a feral cat that Jilly and George have adopted just one week before the hoard descends on the household. Also add in all the accidents that can happen and Archie trying to fit in with it all. I greatly enjoyed this fast read and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a tale full of chaos and family love to put on the shelf to read every Christmas season.
