And Then I Found You

AND THEN I FOUND YOU is a fast paced contemporary novel that really pulled at my heart strings.  I felt I was on an emotional roller coaster throughout and all my emotions were involved and engaged.

Henry's AND THEN I FOUND YOU is a book that tackled a topic that could have been preachy or a downer but wasn't.  It looked at not only the topic of adoption but the emotions of everyone involved: the adopted child, the birth parents, the adopted parents and their family, grandparents, extended family and friends. It also explored the relationships of each of them to the others all in a great storyline that captured my interest from the first page to last.  The characters were multifaceted and Henry really showed us all sides of their personalities - the loving and the not so loving. Kate had many issues to deal with throughout the story but it all came back to the child she gave up for adoption when she was a young adult. The chemistry between Kate and Jack was smoldering even when they tried to fight it but she and Jack never seemed to be on the same page at the same time especially since he had moved on with his life when Kate never could.  The chemistry was nonexistent between Kate and Rowan and he showed his true colors at various times even if Kate didn't want to see that it was often a direct result of how she treated him.  Emily was a little girl that wanted it all but luckily had loving parents to set boundaries for her. The support of Kate's family and friends was the crutch that Kate needed to get through each year as she honored her daughter's birth date.  There were secrets, laughter, tears, happiness, sorrow, families, friends, disbelief, nonchalance, romance and love. There was great closure with a totally unexpected happily ever after but an epilogue or a few more chapters would have been the icing on the cake.
