Stella Mezzarotte is a PI with a serious attitude problem. Not a problem to her, just everyone else she runs into! She's a self-confessed alcoholic who wears t-shirts with funny quips on them and sings as loud as she can even though she can't hold a tune. Reminiscent of Sara Paretsky's VI Warshawski's character, Steele is funny and tough. She runs her own Investigation Agency fronted by a romance writing gay man with a protective streak.

Cameron Stone is a Scotsman with a past. Did I mention he's super hot? Mia Zachery has created a character to truly drool over. A James Bond type with a secret military past. He and Steele get themselves in a prickly situation that ties them together, and that's not a bad thing. His attempt to woo her is out of the ordinary, but certainly keeping the economy in business.

The problem? Steele is in trouble; Cameron wants to protect her. But she's a big girl with her own stash of iron big girl panties and doesn't want anything from this gorgeous Brit. Set in Las Vegas, THE OTHER SIDE OF MIDNIGHT, is a fun read with amazing characters. This book is worth it to see Stella and Cameron heat up the pages together and undergo a bumbling courtship which I found myself highly envious of. Zachery's characters are well developed, funny and I found myself rooting for them every bit of the way.
