Terry's ANYTHING BUT SWEET kept my interest from the first page to the last. There were so many twists to the story and I could feel the excitement as some of the businesses and the town square got a facelift thanks to the reality TV show that came to town. This is Charli and Reno's story but it is just one of many relationships that we learn of and about. Reno doesn't like the premise of the show especially when his beloved hardware store is one of the businesses under the microscope but slowly he comes around when he sees how hard Charli and her crew work. He pitches in along with others but never seems to know how he got involved. Their attraction is combustible but they are forever taking one step forward and two steps back and although they try to take it slow, they both fall hard and fast even though they both seem oblivious to what the other is really feeling. There are family and friends, heartache, loss, reminisces, lost loves, tears, laughter, happiness, vivid descriptions of the land and the ranch, the homes and businesses plus the makeovers along with romance and love. The requisite happily ever after is in the offing and there was nice closure.
Terry writes of strong family ties and her characters have lots of layers to them. There's romance and plenty of loving and alpha males that are hot to watch but do whatever it takes to get the woman they love! Her books are reminiscent to me of the stories written by some of my favorite authors - Susan Mallery, Susan Wiggs, Sherryl Woods, Erin Nicholas and Carly Phillips amongst others. I'm happy to know we'll be back in Sweet, Texas at least once more for TRULY SWEET, BOOK 5 in the series which I for one can't wait to read!
