Shawn Lafferty, owner of a trendy nightclub called Autumn Crossroad, strode into her life and insisted on taking over every spare moment. He declared she was working entirely too many hours, even accused her of being just like his mother, who just happened to be Casey's boss. Wanting to prove a point, he makes a costly bet with her. Five thousand dollars says she can't handle both the long hours at work and a relationship with him.
Not wanting to lose, Casey struggles to keep Shawn happy while keeping his automaton mother happy as well. She isn't sure where her loyalties should truly lie. Her heart tells her one thing, but common sense plus experience has taught her otherwise. Relying on her faith in God, she is convinced that she is there for a reason, but begins to wonder if it is even worth the fight. How can she have both?
Cheryl N. Warner has written a sweet romance that will endear many readers looking for a good old-fashioned love story with a touch of romantic comedy. There's more that could have been done to spice up the story, but I enjoyed how Ms. Warner was able to entertain with a clean and simple love story. AUTUMN CROSSROAD proves that sex doesn't always sell. This book should appeal to our readers who have strong family and Christian values.
