Sheriff Noah Wheeler has a problem. He hates romantic commitment. It just isn't his 'thing'. And since seventeen Pritchett County, Arkansas women have formed the Noah's Lonely Heart Support Group, there's some pretty hard evidence pointing towards the fact that Noah's a love 'em, leave 'em kind of guy.

That suits Cassie Tremont just fine. Sure, he had come to her rescue when she'd gone into labor on the deserted highway and had delivered her twin babies. And yes, he seemed most determined to turn them into a family. But the young widow has had it with love. All it took was finding out her beloved husband and his female passenger were killed in a diving accident. Oh, and the woman also carried the title of ' wife' .
Cassie is perfectly capable of taking care of her new babies on her own. As soon are they are able to travel back home to Little Rock, the three of them will hit the road. It is rather amusing that Noah's Support Group has already dubbed her Number Eighteen, and that it bothers him so much. Just as confusing, are the mixed messages the handsome sheriff keeps sending her way. Noah may think he doesn't want commitment, but maybe he just hasn't found the right woman to commit to.
BABIES AND BADGES is a wonderful, satisfying read. This Harlequin American Romance contains humor, warmth, and tenderness. Laura Marie Altom has created characters that shine through sparkling dialog and well-written prose. All in all, this is a book that will pass a hot summer's afternoon in a most pleasant fashion.
