Beach Lane: A Chesapeake Shores Novel
Nov 16, 2011 - 8:44:20 PM
Susie O'Brien is not dating Mack Franklin. Sure, they hang out all the time. They've been friends for years. But Susie is absolutely not interested in dating a player like Mack. She made the rules years ago, and they've both followed them carefully. So why does Susie feel it just might be time to rewrite the rulebook?
Mack Franklin may have agreed to Susie's hands-off policy, but his feelings for her go far beyond friendship. But just when he's ready to take things a to a new level, his professional life takes a dive. Mack wants to get his own life back in order before he complicates Susie's.
When Susie's life takes a totally unexpected turn, she knows her heart wants to take a chance on Mack. But her head believes it wouldn't be fair to Mack. They were finally ready to get closer when their lives went crazy. Now that they need each other more than ever, will they put aside their comfortable rules and give a real relationship a try? Or will Susie let her fears and her new feelings for Mack push him further away than ever?
BEACH LANE is not an easy read, but the difficulties Susie and Mack faced made it impossible to put the book down. It deals with a tough subject and really delves into the hopes and fears of Susie, Mack, and their families. In spite of it all, there were still plenty of opportunities for the traditional O'Brien meddling. Yet old rivalries were pushed aside as the entire O'Brien clan rallied around Susie. I hoped Susie and Mack would stay strong for each other through the tough times, and come through it all to face a bright future together. I have been a Sherryl Woods fan for a long time, and stories like this one are exactly why I keep coming back for more.
