When Elizabeth Deravenel Turner finally inherits her family’s multi-million dollar company, she is dismayed to find out that her sister, Mary Turner Alvarez, has badly – almost criminally – misused the corporation’s funds by sinking millions into her husband’s pet project in
Spain. Fearless, and far from mourning Mary’s passing,
Elizabeth jumps in with both feet and quickly makes the badly mismanaged company into the world power it was meant to be. By her side are Robert ‘Robin’ Dunley, her dearest and oldest friend, and Cecil Williams, her most trusted advisor. Together they make an unstoppable team.
Elizabeth finds herself looking at Robin in a whole new way. Her onetime childhood playmate takes on a brand new role in her life when he professes his love to her. Their passion for each other is palpable.
However, nothing is perfect, and gossip beleaguers Elizabeth and Robin at every turn. When the press discovers their affair, they remind society he’s still married. Meanwhile her cousin, Marie Stewart, who wants nothing more than to dethrone
Elizabeth as the CEO of Deravenels, devises a plan to take over Deravenels. And she may have the connections to do it.
BEING ELIZABETH is an amazing story of love, betrayal, scandal and absolution. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting these dynamic, strong willed characters and learning their stories – their loves and losses. I especially felt for
Elizabeth during her early tumultuous years. The parallels between this Elizabeth and the Tudor queen were astounding. Anyone with an interest in Tudor history will love the similarities. I have not read the previous books in the Deravenels saga, but I will – just as soon as I can get to the bookstore!
