Beyond the Breaking Point

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. When Cassidy's comfortable life spirals out of control and into Maury Povitch territory, she comes to realize that she is stronger and life is stranger than she ever knew.
This is an emotive drama that will have you shaking your head and possibly your fist in disbelief. Cassidy is a pediatrician, happily married to Phillip, a lawyer. Max DeSalvo is Phillip's best friend.
The two friends work together and so when Cassidy and Phillip plan a second honeymoon, it seems natural to ask Max and his girlfriend Amber along too. One fateful day, Max and Cassidy go shopping together, and when they get back to the condo they've rented, they walk in on Amber and Philip interacting in a way that cannot be misconstrued.
From there on, Cassidy, Max and Phillip's lives take them on a rollercoster of emotions. There are plenty of dramatic moments where as a reader I thought "what?! No," but throughout the book, one of the many things I loved was that I couldn't hate Phillip, Cassidy's husband. As a fully-fledged character, I could understand him and his viewpoint.
To a less skilled writer he would have been a cookie cutter villain and it was the beauty of Ms. Wynn's writing that Phillip was so realistic that this reader could in some way sympathize with him, while at the same time wanting to whack him upside the head. This novel kept me on the edge of my seat in full empathy with all the characters.
When the book ended, I found I couldn't rest. I had to know what happened next, and I was still emotionally invested in the story, because the characters were all real to me. Cassidy dealing with one complication after another, not to mention her original dilemma, Max in love with his best friend's wife, and Phillip the husband who knows that Cassidy is the best thing that ever happened to him, adamant that he cannot give her up. I loved every word. I will without a doubt be reading the next book, as the author cruelly teases us with a taster of the next book which just makes the wait harder. I had no idea Ms. Wynn had a cruel streak!
I know that some will have a problem with the story not concluding in this book but with writing of this quality and a story this superb, I would have felt cheated if I had allowed that fact to put me off.
