Holly Brennan had been born to elderly parents, who, along with her brother, expected her to stay with them and be their caretaker in their waning years. So when Bruce asked her to marry him, she had accepted, not because she loved him, but to escape her situation. Later, as Bruce lay in his deathbed, dying of cancer, she became his caretaker, having come full circle and to her shame, she resented him for it. Having always been overweight, her grief and guilt combined to make her even heavier. Fortunately, her husband had left her well provided for and it was on a trip from Toronto to handle one of the loose strings that still needed tidied up from his death that she was seated next to a stranger named Logan.

Logan Montgomery comes from an average background, but while in college on a football scholarship, he was roomed with Chase, who became his best friend and a celebrity football player. Helping out with injuries, Logan gained a deep interest in physical therapy. When Chase received his signing bonus, he loaned Logan money to help him pursue a career in the subject. Now, with two locations and support from his best friend, Logan is doing very well and enjoying his life. On the plane ride home from Toronto where he had traveled in answer to a call from Chase, he was seated next to an overweight widow. Discovering she lived nearby, he offered to be her personal trainer, giving her a reduced rate for his service.

He was amazed at how focused Holly was at her training and how well she accepted any challenges he threw out without complaining. But she shared very little about her life, occasionally tossing out a clever, self-deprecating comment. Still Logan never felt the need to stroke her ego, as was the case with some of the stick thin models he had dated in the past. Logan was not yet ready to settle down to one woman.

Holly has no one but herself now, so late one night when she came very close to binging; she called the only person she could think of…Logan, who dropped everything and ran to help her out. By the time the night was over, Logan had a much clearer idea of Holly’s life and he could not help admiring her. As the workouts and easy camaraderie between them turns heated, he realizes that other men are now noticing her. As she meets her goals and becomes more confident in herself, will Logan lose her to someone else, or is their interaction leading up to a secure future together?

A heartwarming, feel good romantic comedy, BIG GIRL PANTIES, a novel beautifully written by debut author Stephanie Evanovich, is a humorous, yet sensual, contemporary romance that is sure to win this talented new author many fans. This novel will give readers a whole new perspective to working out in a gym. I was glad to see that becoming thin is not the be-all and end-all of this story. For those expecting Holly to suddenly become a low, single-digit size by the end of this book, you will find this is not the case. Emotionally driven, this story follows Holly as she gains control over her life and her grief, coming to terms with herself and her body as she learns new healthy habits with the patient, loving help of Logan. In the process, she may or may not find love for the first time. Pure entertainment, this story is sure to touch the hearts of many readers. Filled with humor, workouts, self-esteem and weight issues, interesting characters, grief, guilt, healing and love, BIG GIRL PANTIES is one you won’t want to miss. It is a relief to read about a heroine who is not stick thin for a change. I enjoyed this story immensely and look forward to see what Ms. Evanovich comes up with next. Following in her famous aunt, Janet Evanovich’s, footsteps, Stephanie Evanovich has penned a winner!
