Michael is unattached. He plays in the world of BDSM but he has no special person in his life…until he meets Lara in an on-line setting. Their relation progresses to the point where they’re ready to meet in person. Michael has told her what he expects and she feels driven to accept what he can offer her.
The meeting takes place and they recognize one another right away. Their feelings are even more enhanced in the other’s presence. They talk, share more information and he reiterates what he expects from her.
Lara and Charlie separate. Her friends and family believe she’s going to visit a friend for a while and write the book she’s always wanted to write. She moves in with Michael.
The transition for her isn’t a smooth one. Lara feels that she’s too large and is embarrassed at her nudity. Michael works with her to overcome those feelings. Her tentativeness at his commands leads the reader to believe she’s not quite where she wants to be mentally.
Little by little, Michael takes her into his world, teaches her what he wants. His friends think he’s nuts for not pushing her, beating her until she bleeds. They laugh when he tells them that he loves her.
Their idle life is about to take a punch. It seems that Charlie wants to give his marriage another try. He admits that he’s been reading up on the lifestyle she wants and is willing to give it a go.
What happens next is…I can’t tell you. You have to read it. Be prepared for some scenes that are a little harsh, but they bring to the story more substance. They are also the deciding force Lara needs to make a decision which relationship she really wants.
BIRD IN A CAGE is just that. Lara is Michael’s bird and she must be caged, loved, taught her place and accept it before she can fly. If you’re a fan of this genre, you do not want to pass this one up. J.W. has written Michael’s story and Claire Lara’s. It’s one of those stories you’ll read more than once. So many nuances can be missed with just one reading.
I highly recommend it and will definitely place it on my ‘favorites’ shelf.
