Jennifer Webb trained at her father’s side to take over Webb International when he stepped down. Only he never got the chance because he was murdered in his office. Jennifer knows that her father admired and respected Craig Blackthorne and she intends to trust him to help her as well. In one of her last conversations with her father he’d requested that she contact Craig about taking on Webb International. She’d been hurt by his lack of faith in her abilities but Jennifer reasoned that her father had always made sound decisions.

Craig Blackthorne is a blowout specialist. He owns an oil well firefighting company in which he takes an active role by going to each site where his team is fighting a fire. He’d become friends with Fritz Webb when one of their wells caught fire years ago. His death is a shock, but he’s even more stunned when Fritz’s daughter Jennifer informs him of her father’s wishes that he take over Webb International.

There’s much more to Jennifer’s seemingly sheltered life than meets the eye. It’s only after her father’s death and meeting Craig that she starts to experience emotions that she’s never encountered before. Family secrets and abuse that have been covered up over the years come to the forefront. Craig and Jennifer quickly discover that Fritz’s murderer is Charles Whiteside, an International arms dealer and a master of disguise. He’s determined to get Webb International - even if he has to kill them both in order to obtain it.

Christy Poff is a master at emotional suspense novels and BLOW OUT is an awesome example of her talent. At first Jennifer strikes the reader as having a model life. She’s beautiful, rich, and smart. I was stunned when the abuse that she’d survived was finally revealed. Craig is exactly the kind of man she needs in her life. He’s strong, dependable, and willing to do whatever it takes to get her the help she needs - except let her go. I really loved how Jennifer’s brothers played very important roles throughout the storyline, especially her brother Cliff who had been absent from her life for many years. He’s got a wonderful subplot all his own that you’ll just have to read to believe.
