Derek Graves is a sexual dominant looking for a submissive that will fulfill even his darkest needs. However, one night he finds himself in the untenable position of being an unwilling participant in a sexual predator’s twisted game. Derek manages to survive his ordeal but he is far from recovered. He is determined to make sure that the man who hurt him suffers. One night, Derek finds his attacker and manages to get his revenge while at the same time saving a young man from being the next victim.

He decides to bring the drugged and incoherent young man called “Blue” home to make sure that he can’t identify Derek or tell the authorities what he did. Blue is very surprised to find himself handcuffed to a stranger’s bed. He is grateful for his rescuers help and he soon realizes that he can use this situation to his advantage. After all, Derek is a very handsome man who arouses intense desires in Blue.

Derek soon realizes that Blue is exactly who he has been waiting for. He has finally found a partner who responds beautifully to all of his commands and shares his desires but can they make their relationship work in the long run? Blue is happy where he is. He knows exactly what he wants and he is not above a little manipulation to get it.

BDSM stories are a particular favorite of mine and BLUE RUIN 1: SOME KIND OF STRANGER is no exception. However, there are elements to this story that set it apart from the other stories I’ve read. This story is darker than what I am used to but to my surprise I found I really enjoyed it. Katrina Strauss does a wonderful job of creating two very unique characters. Derek is a man who has issues he needs to work out. He is undoubtedly powerful and sexy but what I found most intriguing were his flaws. Blue is equally captivating. He is not the typical submissive by any means. He knows what he wants and he goes after it with single minded determination. He is devious and manipulative but also manages to be very endearing and loving. I really enjoyed getting to know these two very complex men. The plot is sizzling hot and there are also plenty of twists and turns that kept me reading to the very end.
