Jake Baker and Cree Sommers were inseparable as children and have remained just as close as adults.  They love each other completely and have worked hard to make their ranch a home.  There is just someone missing, namely the lovely Jenny who they haven’t seen in years.  However, their vision of the perfect family is realized with one phone call.  While their hearts soar when they come face to face with the woman who has haunted their every waking moment, they also experience uncontrollable rage at seeing the injuries that some monster has inflicted on Jenny.

Every day for the past five years, Jenny Barnes has worked very hard to be untraceable.  She stays in hiding to protect the two men she loves the most in the world; danger would stalk them if she lets down her guard.  No matter how hard she tries to conceal her whereabouts, the obsessed stalker always finds her.  After locating her this last time, the evil man leaves her for dead.  Waking up to find Jake and Cree with her is a dream come true.  Simultaneously feeling joy and terror, Jenny is fearful of her ability to keep Cree and Jake from being harmed.  Of course, Jake and Cree know Jenny has it all backwards and tell her in no uncertain terms that she is theirs to protect.  And they are hers to keep.  Forever.

Jake and Cree send for their former SEAL unit.  When everyone arrives, the men make plans to keep Jenny safe.  But will vigilant planning be enough to stop a madman from taking away the woman they love?

BRANDED BY GOLD was wholly spectacular and deeply moving.  From page one until the end I could sense nothing but the love Jake and Cree had for each other and for Jenny.  Complete and unconditional love was the theme of this book and nothing came across more emphatically than the fact that love oftentimes does heal all wounds.

BRANDED BY GOLD by Carol Lynne is the first book of a new series called Men in Love.  While it comes with a warning of references to graphic violence and rape, it is only alluded to in the context and not used in any way for titillation.  Making the plot more realistic and believable, it was a gripping part of the storyline and by no means did it make me want to stop reading.  Carol Lynne officially has me hooked and I am impatiently awaiting the next installment, BEN’S WILDFLOWER, set to release April 25 from Ellora’s Cave.
