Avery Crosslin is a wedding planner slowly but surely building a successful business in Houston, Texas. It is taking time to break into the society wedding scene but Avery and her partner, her sister Sofia, know they will make it. As Avery is preparing for a wedding, she mistakes one of the guests for the photographer. Joe Travis does not mind. He is just happy he got the chance to meet Avery. Now he wants to get to know her better, but Avery is putting up every barrier in her arsenal. Joe is just as determined as Avery, however, and he will go the distance to prove to her that a future together may just be a wonderful addition to her life.

BROWN-EYED GIRL is the newest book in Lisa Kleypas' wildly popular TRAVIS FAMILY series. Finally it is time to read how Joe Travis falls in love! And as any Kleypas reader can expect, it is a mesmerizing experience. Joe and Avery get off to a rocky start, with an unexpected one-night stand together, which scares Avery but only proves to Joe how compatible they are together. I liked both of these characters. Avery is a bit shy when it comes to relationships but she is full steam ahead in her wedding business. Family is important to her and her close relationship with Sofia is illustrated throughout the story with great scenes and funny dialog between them. When a dream opportunity to host her own wedding television program lands in her lap, Avery does not know how to proceed. Her feelings for Joe have grown. She does not want to lose him but Joe is a Texas man through and through. He wants to support her but his feelings for her have grown deep and now, he faces the fact that he may just lose her.

BROWN-EYED GIRL soars with emotions. The love story is fabulous but it is the interactions between Avery and her sister, and Avery and her little dog, and well, any scene with Avery that really make this story stand out. Avery is just a class act character. Readers unfamiliar with the Travis family need not fear being lost in this story. Lisa Kleypas sets up the back story easily, though I promise you will want to go back and read the other Travis siblings' stories after this book!

BROWN-EYED GIRL is a robust love story with characters who will soon stand tall in readers' memories for their great chemistry and big hearts.
