While his sister-in-law is hospitalized, Quincy is in charge of taking care of all of the families ranches. One morning while taking care of his horses, Quincy finds a woman sleeping in his barn. He is stumped because there is no sign of a break-in. He simply cannot figure out how this woman who is dressed in strange garb has appeared in his building.
After questioning the woman, Quincy comes to find out that her name is Ceara O’Ceallaigh, and she claims that she has come from the year 1574. She is there to break a Harrigan family curse that renders all first wives of the Harrigan men sick with a fatal blood illness. Quincy thinks that Ceara is beautiful but he believes that she is mentally ill, so he decides to call the police and have her arrested for breaking and entering.
After a lot of coaxing and convincing on his father’s part, Quincy decides to bail Ceara out of jail. While he’s not convinced that Ceara can heal his sister-in-law, he is willing to let her try. When Ceara announces that she must marry Quincy because he is the only Harrigan bachelor, he reluctantly agrees.
After a rush wedding Quincy finds out that he must consummate the marriage in order for the healing to take place. An awkward bedding takes place. Quincy and his family are overjoyed when a miracle takes place. They then welcome Ceara into their family with opened arms.
Over the weeks and months that pass a marriage of convenience is transformed into true love. When another tragedy strikes that threatens to tear Ceara and Quincy apart will this couple have the strength to weather the storm?
Quincy Harrigan is a swoon worthy hero. More than once I wished that I could conjure him up in my own life. His love for Ceara is deep and never ending. He is willing to do anything to keep her out of harm’s way. I admire his strength and courage and the way that he will let nothing stand in his way of keeping his wife happy.
Ceara O’Ceallaigh is a feisty and tenacious heroine. It is fun to see her learn about modern life. She must learn everything from how to work an oven to how to operate a remote control. She is willing to give up her own family in order to stay with Quincy.
