Shane Reynolds isn’t impressed with the country club crowd. The snobbery is overwhelming and their smiles are as phony as the breasts on the majority of the women patrons. Still, he has a job to do and he’s determined to see it through, even if his nerves are fried and he’s tired of deflecting the sexual innuendos being tossed his way. Amazingly enough amongst this crowd of self involved people Shane’s discovered one woman who turns him on in a huge way – unfortunately she’s the daughter of the she-devil and Jackson Moore, his employer.
Jax isn’t at all happy about having to move back in with her parents while her divorce is pending. Her mother’s already begun her campaign to find Jax a wealthy respectable man. However, Jax isn’t a child anymore and she’s determined to outwit her mother and if that means enlisting the aid of Arthur, the ‘would be marriage material,’ then so be it. With her mother convinced her matchmaking scheme is working Jax is safe to explore more interesting pursuits, namely Shane. He’s more than willing to deliver on all her desires and needs, but Shane has a secret of his own and he just prays Jax can forgive him when she learns the truth.
Cat Johnson exceeded my expectations with her comically endearing story PRIVATE LIES. Jax’s independent nature and opinion of her mother’s schemes kept me chuckling especially during some of the more candid and embarrassing conversations. Jax’s honesty, hurt over her husband’s betrayal, anger over the whole situation and lust for a bartender blend into one wacky fun storyline that’s full of many ‘OMG, she didn’t just…’ moments and several ‘oh yeah, you go girl!’ scenes as well. The sex scenes are hot and Shane is absolutely loveable. Oh, and I imagine you want to know what happens with the soon-to-be ex? Well you’re just going to have to pick up a copy to find out – but I have to tell you, when Jax gets even she does it with style. This is the perfect story to warm your heart and tickle your funny bone on a cold winter’s day.
PRIVATE LIES is one of the 28 Days of Heart stories being released through All Romance Ebooks during the month of February. All profits generated from sales of these titles will be donated to the American Heart Association to help combat the number one killer of women.
