Mattie was the only person who Rachel felt, truly loved her, except for her best friend Charlene. Charlene was engaged to Dan Maddox, a rodeo cowboy, so when she fixed up Rachel on a blind date Rachel should have know it would be with a cowboy. When she walked in the restaurant and saw Lynx 'Wild Cat' Maddox sitting at the table she figured it was alright to dream as long as she stayed detached. Rachel refused to get involved with another cowboy who would risk his life trying to win the silver buckle rodeo championship.
Lynx was everything Rachel ever dreamed of in a man, he was kind and caring and when she was with him she wasn't lonely anymore. The only problem was his obsession to win that buckle, Rachel couldn't stand by and watch another man kill himself for one moment of glory, like her father did, even if it meant saying good-bye.
Lynx Maddox grew up around the rodeo circuit, his whole family competed and they had the trophy case to prove it. This year Lynx had another motive for wanting to win so badly. He had to win the silver buckle for his brother Austin, who never got the chance. His determination had already cost Lynx his marriage, his relationship with his family and now the woman he loves. How high of a price is Lynx willing to pay to win, and will it all be worth it in the end?
RIDE A WILD HEART is truly a fantastic read, that touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes. Connie Vines has done a remarkable job and RIDE A WILD HEART will be going on my keeper shelf for many more years of reading enjoyment. This is the first book in the 'Western Men are Made for Lovin' Series and by the looks of this book it is sure to be a big hit.
