Gregori Ivanov has come to know and trust Wren over the course of their unusual relationship. She doesn’t back down from his temperamental artist nature – and definitely doesn’t coddle him. Where most people would cater to his ego, Wren tells it like it is - and Gregori really appreciates that about her. The trouble is that Gregori is extremely attracted to Wren but doesn’t do relationships. His failed marriage and ex-wife’s antics are more than enough to ensure he never considers getting seriously involved with anyone again.
Gregori might be under the impression that everyone wants something from him but Wren seems to be the exception to that rule. His suggestions and offers to assist her in getting her art seen are all rebuffed… in fact the only thing she does want from him is… well, him! The sexy Russian accent, bad boy attitude, tattoos and Mohawk turn her on in a huge way, but she isn’t exactly prepared for the reality that goes along with loving and potentially losing a complex man like Gregori.
Lauren Dane’s CAKE is a delectable treat you won’t want to pass up. With headstrong characters, a captivating storyline, and a whole lot of sexual tension readers will easily find themselves eagerly anticipating the interactions between Wren and Gregori. Like most celebrities Gregori is constantly bombarded with people wanting things from him so it’s understandable why he keeps people at a distance. Wren, however, is unlike anyone he’s ever known and can easily hold her own against his sometimes over-inflated ego. I really enjoyed the complexities of the relationship between Wren and Gregori and honestly hope that at some point in the future we’ll get to revisit them.
