Though he was a college student, William was shy and backwards around girls.
He still lived at home with his mom and he didn't go out much. Then he met Lynne. She was from his home town and older than him. He thought she was so beautiful and full of life. There was one problem; William was still a virgin. He did not know how to act with a woman of Lynne's experience. But he was willing to try. His mother was a big problem for William. She was always getting in the way of their relationship. Could he overcome this obstacle and find love with Lynne?

Lynne thought William was shy and cute; she was attracted to him the first time she met him. She is spontaneous and full of life and she wants William. Lynne shows William things that he has only dreamed about and that they could be happy if family, school and responsibilities didn't get in the way. Lynne wants to be with William but her family comes first and she must choose what she wants to be happy. Can she be happy without William in her life? Can love overcome the pain of the past and make her happy again? Only time would tell.

Pepper Espinoza has written a winner with CALIFORNIA STARS. It is the story of a love of two different people drawn together by lust, and a need for friendship. William needs Lynne in his life and he loves her, but life's events keep them apart, and family responsibility is an obstacle they need to overcome. I was moved by this story because I felt the shyness that William was experiencing. His love for Lynne was very moving and he tries to please his mother but he also wanted a life with Lynne. I felt the pain that Lynne was going through helping her mother overcome her problems and to help raise her little sister but also wanting a life of her own with William. Ms. Espinoza, you are a very talented author and I am looking forward to reading more of your books.
