Dr. Kinzie Leigh Sanders works for the Physicians for World Mercy program. Her current assignment is a small village in a war-torn village in
Africa. Life is sacred and the villagers never know when trouble will come to them.
Chance is a man of mystery who appears periodically and brings some much needed supplies to the clinic. He’s taken with Leigh and spends as much time as he can with her. Little by little he’s taken over her body, controls it with his domination. Leigh craves the things this man can do to her body but she is furious with him every time he visits. He silently slips out of the village before daybreak and refuses to tell her anything about him. She’s better off not knowing he tells her.
Events in the country come to a violent head and Chance is determined to get to Leigh and help her escape before the village is attacked. When he nears the village, something goes wrong with the plane he’s commandeered and it crashes.
Leigh believes her mystery man is dead but the village elders say he isn’t and she must participate in the ritual to help him not cross the river. All she knows is that he’s died in her arms and no one will tell her anything about him. How will she go on?
I have to say that of all the Reese Gabriel books I’ve read – and I’ve read everything on the internet that I can find - this one is truly unique and stands alone. The passion in CHANCES RULES will leave you breathless and Leigh’s emotions will have you alternately searching for tissues to commiserate with her broken heart and wanting to help her find Chance and give him his comeuppance.
Life is a fragile thing and Mr. Gabriel paints a vivid picture of it with CHANCES RULES. If you don’t read another book, read this one. As with most of this author’s books, it contains a bit of BDSM and isn’t for anyone under the age of eighteen. Even if you’re not a fan of this genre, the storyline alone is enough to hold your interest. The other is just window dressing.
