Carpenter's CHEF'S DELIGHT is a wonderful story that has an interesting premise in that last year the friends all met for the night on New Year's Eve, single and alone. This year they plan to meet on New Year's Eve with a boyfriend or significant other in tow otherwise they have to bring Freddie, one of the guys that they went to high school with that no one wanted to date. They also redid their list from ten years before of what are important characteristics their men should have. The friends’ stories are interwoven throughout but this is Joss and Heather's story and watching their romance evolve was realistic and heartwarming. There are so many underlying stories just involving them that it keeps the book fast flowing and intriguing. There are many emotions involved along the way - sorrow, sadness, hurt, tears, caring, happiness, laughter, family, friends, romance and love. There was wonderful closure thanks to the epilogue and many happily ever afters but I wish it could have been just a little longer.
This is the second book I've read by Carpenter and I look forward to reading more of her books. The writing kept my interest from beginning to end and I managed to read the book in one sitting.
