The drive from the airport to Mustang Creek is fraught with hazards as a storm system has moved in from the coast. It is snowing so hard it is almost impossible to see at all. Charlotte drives thirty miles an hour and it felt she is the only one on the roads. There is one set of headlights following a ways behind her. When she reached Mustang Creek, she decided to stay in the only hotel in town but finds there are no rooms left. The final room had been reserved by the local veterinarian for his new colleague coming in from Idaho.
Jaxon Locke is moving to Mustang Creek for two reasons, he has a job there now and he found out his ex-girlfriend, Charlie, is moving back home to Mustang Creek. When Jax worked a short time in New York, he had met Charlie and really liked her. Before their relationship went very far Jax was notified that his father had a heart-attack, so he moved back to Idaho. Jax has never forgot, nor gotten over his love for, Charlie, so he is following her to Mustang Creek, hoping to re-unite with her. When Jax arrives at the hotel in Mustang Creek, he found Charlie being turned away because there were no rooms. Since his room has queen beds he offers her the other bed for the night.
Charlie isn't sure how to take seeing Jax again and in her hometown. She still has feelings for him but knows Jax wants a wife who stays at home with the kids and Charlie isn't sure she wants to be that person. She doesn't know what is going to happen after she gets all her aunt's affairs in order. She knows there are no job opportunities here for her.
This story reminds me a little bit of a cat-and-mouse game. Jax moves to Mustang Creek to get Charlie to marry him, but Charlie is not sure what she wants to do with her life now she is back in Mustang Creek, while Mrs. Klozz and Aunt Geneva are working together to try and get the loving couple together for Christmas. I give this novel 4 Blue Ribbons on Romance Junkies' website because this is another magical place I think I would like to live. I loved the hoops Jax is willing to jump through to show Charlie how much he wants her in his life, and the obstacles Charlie keeps throwing in the way because of her stubborn pride. I hope that everyone who needs a loving, feel good story takes the time to read CHRISTMAS IN MUSTANG CREEK, book 4 in THE BRIDES OF BLISS COUNTY series.
