Jason hasn't been the same since he lost his wife to cancer. For the first time in a very long time, Eliza brings happiness to his, his daughter's and his mother's life. He knows he shouldn't fall for her. After all, she's his employee. However, Jason can't seem to fight his feelings for Eliza. Will Jason be devastated when he realizes that he and Eliza are literally from two different worlds and may never be able to be together?
Angel is a sweet, shy and heart-broken little girl. She lost her mother and now her grandmother is also dying of cancer. It seems that every time she becomes attached to someone, they're taken away from her. When Eliza enters her life, Angel is convinced she's been sent to become her step-mom. Will Angel be able to let go of Eliza when the time comes or will her heart be broken beyond repair?
What an emotionally, heart-wrenching story of love, life, hope and the ever after. This is the best story I've ever read regarding this subject matter. My heart wept for little Angel and Jason. Eliza is truly an angel, gifted beyond measure as she enters these people's lives. I honestly don't think they would have been able to survive without her. I bawled my eyes out as Eliza became closer and closer to not only Angel and Jason, but Jason's dying mother. From the very beginning, I was convinced that Eliza and Jason belonged together and that she was truly the mother Angel needed. Everything about this story left me in utter awe and amazement. I was continuously between tears and laughter. Eliza is such a sweet woman, always putting everyone else before herself. The only thing that matters to her is making others happy. Jason is the single father, reeling from the death of his wife, and the upcoming death of his mother while trying to raise his small daughter. Angel is sweet, feisty, adorable and smart. She wants Eliza as her step-mom and she'll wheel and deal until she gets her way. Ms. McDonough did a superb job making these characters so realistic and the storyline so believable. This is definitely going on my keeper shelf to re-read again and again. Truly a heartwarming story for the holidays!
