Ivy Starling Schneider is a "sandwich generation" woman, trying to care for her children while also caring for an elderly parent. She writes a newspaper column while helping to run the family restaurant while keeping up with the demands of a toddler while dealing with a teen while running the kids to well, everywhere, to making sure her sick mother gets to her doctor appointments on time. Whew! Tired yet? Ivy is, guaranteed! And all the while her husband, Rusty, is traveling all over the country singing with a gospel quartet. Ivy is just about exhausted trying to keep so many balls in the air with little help or appreciation from anyone. Not to mention, her father and father-in-law both want to move in too. Is this a blessing or just more work for Ivy?

Rusty Schneider is away from home almost all year, but enjoying the praises that finally seeing widespread success brings. He thinks he's doing what's best for his family and doesn't understand what the big deal is back home with Ivy. Can this man possibly be this clueless?

Mitch Sullivan has been friends with Ivy since almost forever, and is delighted when they meet again at the high school reunion after a short disappearance on his part. Still in love with Ivy, Mitch offers her the love, comfort, and support her husband doesn't and that she desperately craves. A gentleman to the roots, Mitch promises he'll be there waiting patiently when Ivy finally calls it quits. With such a sweet guy waiting in the wings, how can Ivy resist the temptation to take Mitch up on his offer? Will she have the strength to survive the circumstances of her life as is, or should she wave the white flag of surrender?

This is an awesome book, one I truly could identify with, along with probably seventy-five percent of women today. All you overworked ladies out there, pick up this book, kick up your feet, and relax for a few hours. Totally exhausted trying to keep everything in order and running smoothly, taking care of everyone else's needs and putting ourselves last, then there's no one to take care of us when we need some attention ourselves. Sometimes the only ones who truly understand are the ones also experiencing the same thing we are. Lisa Samson has hit dead on with this book and hopefully each reader's life can be as happily wrapped up as Ivy's is in CLUB SANDWICH.
