Jeb Delaney has known Roxy her entire life and isn’t one bit impressed by her return to Oak Valley. Yes, she has made something of herself, but he is sure she is only playing at making a home in the Valley. After all, his past two wives couldn’t wait to get out of there, why would someone who had made it big want to come back to the small town that he loved? Even knowing she will be leaving as soon as she gets bored “roughing it” Jeb can’t help himself from wanting her desperately.
Jeb and Roxy find themselves thrown together on a regular basis, and the sparks that fly between start to undergo a change. The more time they spend together, the more they realize that their penchant for bickering is just a way to avoid facing the real issue, their growing attraction. But will attraction be enough to carry them past their fears, their past, and into an uncertain future?
Shirlee Busbee creates a world rich in detail and imagination. Her characters would be at home in any small town in America, and are eerily familiar to people you meet everyday. The chemistry between Roxy and Jeb is captivating, and the secondary characters make you hope Ms Busbee is planning on more visits to Oak Valley. This is the first contemporary novel I have read by Ms Busbee, and now I can’t wait to get my hands on some of the others. If you enjoy this book, the good news is that there is another book that precedes COMING HOME, titled RETURN TO OAK VALLEY so you won’t have to leave her world just yet.
