James has worked hard, with some help from Tom, on a loan proposal to the bank’s board. Unbeknownst to anyone, including Tom, James did some creative work to the proposal. He feels that what he did was necessary. At some point there will be an opening for a new president of the bank and James intends to be in the running for it.
Tom finds out what James has done. Since he helped some with the project, he’s afraid that it will go under and he’ll be caught up in the fallout that follows.
During his time in James’s home, they talk, drink a lot and, finally, James tells Tom something of his secret fantasies about other men. Tom isn’t sure what to do. He’s afraid that with all the alcohol they’ve consumed, their tentative friendship will be destroyed if he gives in to James’s feelings and requests.
The dialogue and tension are fantastic. Claire Thompson has a winner with this one. I felt like I was in the same room with these two men and felt the tension in the air. She crafted two characters of equal measure. The give and take between them is phenomenal. Whether you like M/M stories or not, you should treat yourself to this one.
CONTINUUM OF LONGING is a keeper. The sexual content and language is a little graphic, but it fits with the storyline. Tom and James have a lot to work out, both personally and professionally. Don’t let this one pass you by.
