Meeting with a few of the concerned residents in the slums, BOLO gains their trust. Led by Jack and his trusty dog Cyrus, the men begin making reparations, providing heat, running water and food to the residents, despite the outraged slumlords. Many of the elderly residents are sick and some children have already died or are close to death due to the appalling conditions. It is December and with winter upon them, the neighborhood is soon filled with workmen and deliverymen in an attempt to remedy the squalid conditions these people have been forced to endure. The next step in the mission is to hit the slumlords where it hurts the most, but first, BOLO must figure out exactly how to make them pay.
In COUNTDOWN, the second part of New York Times bestselling author Fern Michael’s MEN OF THE SISTERHOOD serial, the action picks up and the men become nearly as devious as their female counterparts. The gloves are off and the fight is on as the men make reparation and seek justice. Meanwhile, the personal relationships between the men and their women of the sisterhood seem to be mending as they take steps to repair their relationships and become more committed to each other.
Fans of Ms. Michaels’ acclaimed SISTERHOOD series are sure to love this one. It is a quick read; still, this story will keep you captivated as BOLO’s well-laid plan is carried out. Although the ending surprised me, I enjoyed this continuing saga and look forward to reading the third and final segment, TAKE DOWN, due out September 16th. Before starting this book, you should also read the first segment entitled UPSIDE DOWN.
