Jack Slade has a problem. His cattle are dying under suspicious circumstances, and he's afraid of a contagious disease that will cost him his entire herd. He needs professional help, but sure doesn't expect to see it in the form of a pretty, curly headed vet, Sunny! He never got over her, she was the love of his life, and he was a fool to have married someone else when she left him. The only good thing that came out of his previous marriage was his daughter, Tori. Only his daughter hasn't been herself since his wife left him, she's just too "perfect" for a child, and he can't figure out what's wrong.
Sunny doesn't expect Jack to affect her senses as strongly as he does; surely she is over him after ten years! She works hard with him to figure out his diseased cattle problem, only to find out there is no disease. What is it then? She also works hard at resisting her feelings toward Jack; she finds out she has never stopped loving him, in spite of all the hurt she still feels. Jack gives all outward appearances that he still desires her too. Will they ever bridge the gap of misunderstandings and betrayal to find each other again? Will Sunny be the one who can get through to Tori and her problems?
COURTED BY A COWBOY was a wonderfully heartwarming and addictive story. I couldn't stop reading this one until I reached the end. The conflicts and emotions exhibited by the characters were so down to earth and real, which made it extremely easy to relate to. Reading Ms. Neff's stories make me wish that I lived in Hope, Texas too! I will be heartily looking forward to the next release in this TEXAS SWEETHEARTS series.
