Donny Joe Ledbetter has lived in Everson all his life. Donny is the kid who lived with his grandmother in the shack across the creek. Donny is a respected businessman now and the town’s ladies man. Donny remembers the Green sisters from when they came to visit with their grandma Hazel as kids. Donny always liked Belle but Etta, not so much.
Etta is not happy that she has to extend her stay in Everson because her partner in the restaurant cannot be trusted. Donny and Etta knock heads a few times over the renovations. Etta gets to know more about Donny’s background and begins to have a new respect for him despite his bad boy reputation. Belle leaves town without telling anyone where she was going so Etta has to enroll Daphne in school and see to her well being. Etta would love to strangle her sister for leaving the way she did.
Etta goes to Chicago for a day to check on her restaurant and partner and is blind-sided by finding out that her partner has married, and he and his wife are trying to shove Etta out. Etta comes back a dejected woman so she sinks her teeth into the B&B to get out of her funk. Etta finds a trusted friend in Donny Joe, who helps her get on with her life. Will Donny and Etta become more than just friends? Will Etta go back to Chicago or stay to see her grandma’s dream come true?
Small town gossip, two sisters trying to find their place in life and family secrets to be uncovered highlight this entertaining novel. Molly Cannon’s CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE is another fun-loving, soul searching book that keeps you guessing until the very end. I loved this book and I think you will too.
