Kelly Alexander is a divorced mom with two sons.  Her younger son, Denny has spina bifida and is confined to a wheelchair.  Her heart breaks knowing that her son cannot participate in sports like his older brother Paulie.

When Kelly learns of Junior National Disability Games, she sees it as a way for Denny to finally be able to have an opportunity to play sports using his wheelchair as an asset instead of an obstacle.  She knows the equipment he will need will be expensive, but she decides to pressure her ex-husband to come up with the funds needed since he has never volunteered to take an active role in anything Denny wanted to accomplish.

As a young age, Mart Rawlings suffered an injury that confined him to a wheelchair.  He doesn’t let his chair stand in the way of living his life to the fullest.  He is a successful business man, and also volunteers to coach disability games.  When he meets Kelly and her sons, he immediately offers to be Denny’s coach for the Junior Nationals.

Mart is captivated by Kelly’s beauty.  He finds her ability to see past his wheelchair to the man he is as a refreshing change from the usual women he meets.  Kelly's marriage left deep wounds that still haunt her memory.  Will she be able to put the past behind her and take a chance on discovering love with Mart?

Leslie Richardson has written one heartfelt book in CROSS COUNTRY CHAOS.  Just when you think the book can’t get any better it will, and totally takes you by surprise by the direction the story suddenly turns in a way you didn’t anticipate.  It is a pure joy to read and review books like CROSS COUNTRY CHAOS.  I find that I am able to gain a true appreciation for the talent of any author who is able to create such a moving disabled character.  Mart is a true hero; he is one that is assured to stay with you long after you finish the last page.
