It isn't until Ryan's dragged to yet another penguin movie by his brother and niece that Ryan sees the tattooed arm again, only this time there's a little girl with him and Ryan isn't about to get involved with a married man or a man who's on the fence about being gay. He knows from the lettering on the other man's truck that he works for Connor's Custom Rides. Useless information in this case, but Ryan can't help but wonder how it might have been.
David talks Ryan into driving him to Connor's to pick up his car which was in the shop. While he's there looking at the various vehicles, tattoo guy (a.k.a. Jeff) officially introduces himself and admits that not only does he remember Ryan from the club in Minneapolis, but he'd like to get to know him a whole lot better. There’s just one little problem . . . Jeff is still 'in the closet.' He’s afraid 'coming out' will put his joint custody of Anna, his daughter, at risk. Can Jeff and Ryan find a way to make their relationship work without compromising Jeff's legal rights?
K.A. Mitchell tells a compelling story with CUSTOM RIDE. There's no doubt that Jeff and Ryan are great together and they compliment each other beautifully. There's just the little issue of Ryan wanting more than an occasional booty call and Jeff unable to chance losing his little girl. He’s a great dad and I adored the image I have of a huge rough looking man with this little girl. I have to admit I am horrified by Anna's mother’s behavior. It's obvious she shouldn’t even be allowed to raise a goldfish. I'm really hoping that there'll be a follow up story to CUSTOM RIDE. I’m dying to know more about what happens with Jeff and Ryan and whether or not Jeff gets full custody of Anna.
