Theresa Falconetti has been burned by a hockey player once before, and she's learned her lesson well.  No hockey players, no Italians, and no one from her old New York neighborhood.  Those are her rules for any men she allows into her life.  The successful owner of a public relations firm might have to mingle with sports figures, but she doesn't have to date them.  When Reese Banister walks into her life, he seems perfect:  an attorney, well-to-do, cultured, not Italian.

Michael Dante knows Theresa is 'the one' for him.  All he has to do is convince her that he is 'the one' for her.  It shouldn't be that hard-except she has made it very plain that she is not interested in any guy from the old neighborhood, any guy who is Italian, or any guy who is a hockey player.  Unfortunately, Michael is all three, and very proud of it.  But he is also stubborn and in love, and he won't give up until he convinces Theresa she really doesn't know what she wants.  Especially not that fake, upper-crust guy she's suddenly taken up with…

Deirdre Martin's second book, FAIR PLAY, is terrific.  Sassy, funny, and sentimental, it will make you laugh and cry.  Anyone from a close-knit family will easily identify with Theresa, and who wouldn't want a wonderful guy like Michael chasing after them?  Even if you are not a sports fan, Ms. Martin's writing is so skillful, you'll find your tension level rising during the game scenes that are woven here and there throughout the story.  This is a wonderful tale of romance and how the guy gets the girl by the ending.  Kudos go to Deirdre Martin for a wonderful follow-up to her very successful debut novel, BODY CHECK.
