Red may only be eighteen, but she has the street smarts of someone much older. She plans to do whatever is necessary to live the good life. With her stunning looks and body, she is confident that the world will soon be her oyster, thanks to her new sugar daddy. Her first trick is to fake a pregnancy to guarantee a steady income. Karma is out to get her when she becomes pregnant for real by a former boyfriend. Her other "dirty" trick is to make a book deal for a substantial advance by stealing that boyfriend's manuscript. Red is quickly making more enemies than friends.

Red has had to overcome a rough childhood of abuse and a mother who chose a man over her daughter's safety. Instead of wallowing in despair, Red has become tough and learned to get by on cunning and wits. Will Red survive when all her schemes and scams come crashing down on her? Can love redeem a hardened heart?
This is Ms. Stringer's third novel in a genre labeled "urban street lit". DIRTY RED is not for those who want tender romance, but will appeal to readers who enjoy a gritty, action-packed tale. The language may be profane, but many profound issues are woven through the plot. The characters are fascinating, flaws and all.  The pace is fast and furious and will leave the reader wanting more by the last page. The ending is left open, so maybe there will be more adventures with Red soon.
I am thrilled to see new niche genres open up to encourage more people to read. Ms. Stringer is a skilled storyteller who is bound to win more fans.
