Stan the plumber is about to become nonexistent. Luke has played the part for three years now. Originally, he was only supposed to be in this small Texas town for nine months. It was time; Luke wanted his life back. The best thing about being in this town was Kathy and her son Tommy. Luke has an elderly landlady, Claire, whom he helps occasionally, replacing light bulbs or whatever. In return, he comes home many times to find a homemade meal on the stove that his blue-haired neighbor Claire has left for him. Luke is supposed to appear in court before a judge and twelve jurors next week. He is supposed to testify against Lorenzo, who wants him dead.
Kathy approached Luke and his competitors, who were trying to get a particular job. She was using the pretense of needing a plumber to get Luke’s attention. It did not take long for a fight over Kathy to erupt. As she screamed, distracting Luke, he was hit by the lowlife Johnson. With nearly four years of pent-up frustration, Luke eventually walked away, leaving four jerks flat on their backs on the ground. The last thing he was expecting was for Kathy to show up at his place, shoving a bag of frozen lima beans at him for his injured face. Though he tried to take the beans and get her to leave, she was determined to stay. Just as she got him where she wanted him and they were getting into some serious kissing, Claire knocked and then started to use her keys to come in. Having seen the condoms in his cabinet and, without seeing Claire, believing she was his girlfriend, Kathy became angry, believing herself the TOW…something she never wanted to be. However, when Claire let him know about the big guys who had been there earlier and were now back, he knew he had to get Kathy out of there, unseen. However, the men had seen Kathy go in and, unfortunately, her florist van was parked outside with her name on it. Luke tried to call Calvin, his contact, who always answered his phone, but not this time. Just as Luke yelled for Kathy to run into the woods and hide, bullets started tearing the front door apart. Will they get away before they are killed? Will Luke live to testify?
DIVORCED, DESPERATE AND DECEIVED, the third book in the series, is a humorous, colorfully intriguing contemporary romance. This action-packed book will keep you reading to see what happens next. Though they desire each other, Kathy is scared off by seeing his gun and believing she is the TOW. Brimming with witty repartee, romance, sensual love scenes, an adventure-filled plot, well-drawn characters, hilarious situations, inept gangsters and even a gangster with a conscience; this book is a delight. Though DIVORCED, DESPERATE AND DECEIVED is part of a series; it stands on its own. I enjoyed this book immensely and I look forward to the next book in this series. Be sure to get your own copy of DIVORCED, DESPERATE AND DECEIVED. You won’t regret it!
