Doctor Knows Best

In DOCTOR KNOWS BEST we immediately meet Megan and Giles in the Casualty department and the chemistry between them is there from the start.  Watching their one step forward and two or three steps back each time they meet gets old quickly.

Jennings' DOCTOR KNOWS BEST is a retro romance and only has kisses and no heat but was a fairly quick read.  There isn't much depth to the characters so what you see is what you get. Megan seems afraid to ask questions of Giles or get to know him better and he's either running away after making a caustic remark or shows up unexpectedly. Giles daughter, Joanna, at times acted older than she was but she was often a breath of fresh air and the voice of reason. There are friends, family, misunderstandings, accidents, sorrow, lots of tears, happiness, misspeaks, angst, fear, medical jargon and lots of advice.  There is a happily ever after in the offing but a few more chapters or an epilogue would have been nice.  It wasn't until I turned the last page on my Nook and saw About The Author that I realized the story was over.

Jennings is a new to me author and I will give a few of her other books a read to see if there is better closure.
