Don't Let Go

DON'T LET GO had my emotions captured from the beginning and I couldn't put the book down.  There was so much story to tell including the past and the present and glimpses of the future.  I read it from cover to cover in less than twelve hours even with interruptions in between!

Lovelace's DON'T LET GO held my interest from the beginning.  Jules is the main female character and we learn all about her life from when she was young to the present. Hayden, Jule's ex-husband and Becca's dad, along with Patrick, Jule's boyfriend, Noah, her childhood friend, sweetheart and ex-fiancé and the son they gave up for adoption twenty-six years ago and Noah's dad, Johnny Mack, all play significant roles along with Becca, her daughter, Nana Mae, her grandmother, Ruthie, her best friend since childhood, Linny, Noah's sister and Shayna, Noah's fiancée. Lots of memories - not all good - and reminisces are sprinkled throughout by many of the characters and they don't all see things the same way!  Although Jule's and her mom, whom was very controlling and has since died, had a rocky relationship she still seems to be living her life the way her mom wanted her to and it doesn't seem to be making her happy when she gives it any thought.  Jules seems to be repeating many of her mom's controlling actions and behaviors with her own daughter, Becca and it's eye opening for her when it's pointed out by Noah of all people.  There was a lot of angst and heartache along with secrets, small town living, family, friends, significant others, stories, laughter, tears, happiness, anger, sneaking around, in your face moments, romance and love.  The relationships that were meant to be just seemed to get better and better especially when there was communication that wasn't one way. There were happily ever afters on several fronts that were heartwarming.  The epilogue tied up the loose ends and gave nice closure to the story. I loved the recipe in the back of the book for Nana Mae's Mississippi Mud.  I will definitely have to make it!

Lovelace is a new to me author and I will be adding her other books to my always growing TBR pile.  If this is her caliber of writing I will be adding her to my list of must read authors.
