Don't Even Think About It

How many times have you stayed friends with an ex? Sally and Michael have stayed friends for twelve years and counting; since he broke her heart, then moved on. Funny thing is, all of his subsequent girlfriends are carbon copies of Sally. Sally looks upon 'Mikey's endless stream of girlfriends with a jaundiced eye. She's not pining for him or waiting for him to come to his senses. She's just his friend and like an older sister, able to tease and taunt him at will.

Jude, Sally and Michael's best friend, is not buying that load of blarney for one minute. She sees that all of Michael's girlfriends either resemble Sally, or have mannerisms similar to her. If these two have moved on, then why has Sally not been in a serious relationship since Mikey broke it off? And for that matter, why does Mikey cycle through 'Mini-Sally's' at an alarming rate? Jude has devised a plan to hopefully push these two into each other's arms; where they belong.

You know what they say about the best laid plans? Well, Jude's plan goes to pot when Mikey's latest girlfriend of the week has in bad taste, gotten pregnant. Wow, this really sets off everyone involved. Now what tasteful solution do you think these four can devise when Mikey is so excited, and Katie (the poor dear) is eaten with jealousy and can't keep anything in her stomach? Not to mention Sally who is feeling the green demon of jealousy riding her back, and Jude whose own love life has hit the skids.

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT is a soap opera within a T.V. sitcom. When Jude and Sally start to spout off about Mikey's long string of lovers and can't keep all the names straight, I laughed so hard that I cried. These ladies witty snipes, and off the wall zingers, will have you laughing out loud. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT is the first British chick lit book that I've read and it won't be the last. Lauren Henderson has created a laugh out loud funny and amusing glimpse into the convoluted lives of these three normal people, who manage to get themselves into extraordinary situations.
