Lucky Santangelo has had an exciting life.   She has survived a bitter family betrayal, a murder trial and the death of a husband.   None of those tragedies kept Lucky down for long and she is now living a normal life, for her, with her beloved husband and children.   She has given up her role in film production and went back to her roots with her new project.   She is just days away from the grand opening of her new hotel project, The Keys, in Las Vegas .   The hotel appears to be another winning project for Lucky, but there are people around Lucky who would love to see her latest project fail and will do anything to make sure that The Keys never has it’s first paying customer.

Lucky’s daughter Max is experiencing troubles of her own.   At sixteen Max is tired of living in Lucky’s shadow and being under Lucky’s dumb rules.   She is also tired of the boys she has known all her life and decides to take off to meet an older man, Grant, she has been chatting with on the internet.   He sounds perfect and Max is ready for a more mature relationship.   When Lucky realizes that Max has lied about where she was going, Lucky has to postpone flying to Las Vegas to finish the final preparations for the hotel’s grand opening, and stay home to find Max.   Lucky still doesn’t realize that Max missing is not the only trouble she is facing; an old enemy has resurfaced and is determined to put an end to the Santangelo dynasty.   Who is out to silence Lucky forever?   Who has lured Max into disobeying her mother?   Are all the threats related or does Lucky have more enemies than she ever knew?   Pick up this book for all the answers.

DROP DEAD BEAUTIFUL by Jackie Collins has it all; romance, suspense, intrigue, illicit affairs, revenge and murder.   Wow what more could you want?   Lucky is a fantastic lead character who is constantly busy, but still has time for what is important in life…family.   Max is a riot and fascinating to watch.   I could tell by watching her throughout the book that she is on the way to being exactly like her mother.   I loved the suspense and intrigue woven through the storyline and I didn’t want to put the book down until I found out how Lucky and the others were going to be able to pull the hotel opening off without everything collapsing around them.   This is an excellent book and one that I highly recommend.
